Meetup This Wednesday

We're having another meetup on Wednesday, 11-Nov-09 at 6:00p.m. (as convenient) so come on down!

This time we'll be at the Epoch Coffee House -- 221 W North Loop Blvd. at the intersection of Chesterfield Ave.

It's a chance to meet, share ideas and accomplishments and plan for world domination.

So, gather your minions, gear up (or not) and meet some other Steamfolks.

Vampire Night is Tomorrow Night!

I just wanted to post a quick reminder about an event at Prague (422 Congress Ave -- 5th St. entrance between Congress and Colorado) tomorrow night. It's called "Vampire Night," and it's a club party as well as photography/jewelry/artwork display. We went for a Gothic/Victorian theme for our vampires, which is awfully close to Steampunk, so if anyone's looking for an excuse to get all geared up tomorrow night, here you go!

There's a poster below behind the cut -- if you click on it, I've linked it to an album on Facebook that will give you a sneak peek at some of the gorgeous work that will be on display, courtesy of local photographers Harris O'Malley and Jessica Cargill.

We hope to see you there!

Steampunk? Vampire theme Haunt

Not sure if any of you are haunters or haunt fans, but Scare for a Cure is putting on a vampire themed haunted house with a little steampunk to it(not sure the amount) at Richard Garriot's Brittania Manor. Here's the site. scareforacure.org  I hope ya'll make it out..and hey, it's for a good cause.

Due to conflicts, I will not be participating in this haunt, but I still encourage you to attend

Vampire Night - Oct. 30th @ Prague

I'll admit I'm pretty new to the whole concept of "steampunk," but I've been into the Victorian/Goth thing for a while, particularly when it comes to jewelry. So with the help of a couple of local photographers and a quartet of lovely models, we put together a photo-shoot in honor of Halloween, with vampires as the theme. We're going to have many of the photos and jewelry on display for a one-night-only event we've dubbed "Vampire Night." It's taking place on Friday, October 30th, starting at 9:30 pm, at Prague (422 Congress Ave -- 5th St. entrance between Congress and Colorado).

Costumes are definitely encouraged (but not required), but hey, it's a chance to show off all your nifty steampunk duds!

Use the house icon for where you are and anything else for steampunk places...

We are putting together a gathering, somewhere where loud music will not make conversation difficult. Kick Butt Coffee, Wednesday the 14th at around 6, no hard times so you can come and go as you please with no hard feelings all around. This will be a chance for us to meet, share out ideas, accomplishments, and random stuff. Bring what you want or nothing at all. Come punked up or in plain clothes. The only rule, bring yourself and your mind...what little mind or large a mind that may be. Here's a link to the map...see you there!

A crafting idea!

I am new to the steam punk community, and while I have been collecting odds and ends for use in mods, I am at a loss of where to start, in costuming or crafting. Goggles is what I keep being told, but even with that, I'm at a loss. So, I propose we set up a meet for the steampunk crafters in the area to gather and share thier ideas, methods and techniques. My only problem is that I do not have a place to host and need someone to volunteer a location, be it home, garage, or park. Let me know what you think everyone.
